Thanks for your comment. HIPAA has its heart in the right place, I guess, but I agree it can go too far. It is a constant irritant for those of us who work in the PICU when concerned family members of a patient call on the telephone -- we&#039;re not allowed to tell them anything, only that the child is a patient. It can be cruel.</description>

		<description>Our celebrity-mad culture has made strangers into an extension of our own property.  I think the temptation is tremendous, because we are so used to &#039;knowing&#039;.  I knew once that Brittney Spears had boarded a plane in Miami, flown to Los Angeles, was driven to her home where she spent about twenty minutes, then went out dancing.

I couldn&#039;t even tell you why I knew this.  It&#039;s appalling.</description>
